Each year in June the Scouts of the Seven Rivers District come together for a friendly competition that tests the “scout skills” learned throughout the year.  In small teams the scouts compete in various activities such as obstacle course, planks & crates, compass, BB Gun/Rubber Band Gun target shooting, and archery (older scouts).  The scouts decorate and pull a Conestoga style “Chuck Wagon” during the competition.

Pack 92 had three wagons compete this past year and had success with several of the wagon crews winning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbons along the way.  That evening we camped at Camp Resolute and had a fun Camp Fire Skit Show and Yummy S’mores!

Franklin had a wonder Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony this past weekend.  Pack 92 participated along with the many other Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Girl Scouts, Bands, and other organizations in town.  A great opportunity to display civic duty and understand the sacrifices that our military men and woman have made for our freedom over the decades.

Every spring towards the end of the school year we hold an advancement event and ceremony for our scouts.  This year we celebrated our scouts at the King Street Park which turned out to be a much better location that in past years.  We had a blast with afternoon activities, a tasty cookout, and evening “crossover” ceremony.  Congratulations to our scouts on a successful year and their new ranks!

Pack 92 recently headed out into the dark and rainy night at Mass Audubon’s Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Norfolk.  While the crew was a bit smaller than planned due to the rain, those who attended had a fantastic time!

Pack 92 Aboard the USS Massachusetts

Pack 92 along with several other packs and troops from the New England area had the opportunity to spend the afternoon and overnight aboard the USS Massachusetts, which has been anchored in Fall River (Battleship Cove) for the past 50 years or so.  The Scouts were able to see first hand what it was like to live aboard the Battleship during WWII and check out the history of that era that resides aboard this great floating museum.

I think the Kids and Parents had a blast exploring the battleship along with USS Joseph P Kennedy Destroyer, Lion Fish Submarine, and many other exhibits.  Pack 92 usually embarks on an overnight adventure this time each year.  In past years we have stayed overnight at Plimoth Plantation, the Boston Museum of Science, and Worcester Ecotarium.  To find out where we will be next year…stay tuned!

Each year in March we say goodbye to our Webelos in 5th grade as they earn their Arrow of Light badge and for many start a new journey with a Boy Scout Troop.  This is a happy occasion for our Scouts and their families, although a bit sad for those of us who will miss the leadership of both the scouts and their parents.  

At our recent Blue & Gold Banquet, held this past March 12th we had 11 Scouts earn their Arrow of Light Badge.  9 of these Scouts joined one of three Boy Scout Troops in Franklin!
